Coffee Chat: Survivor Time!

In case you were not aware, Survivor is starting back up: Survivor, as in, the best show ever. My family and I keep up with a lot of shows on a weekly basis, including The Middle, The Goldbergs, Superstore, Dancing With the Stars, and Modern Family (to name a few). But I think that we all agree that Survivor is by far our favorite!

My parents have been watching the show ever since its first season, and me and my sister have been watching since we were in elementary school, if not earlier (not that we really knew what was going on, though). There have been over thirty amazing seasons, but I have to say that the last few haven’t been as good! I think that last winter’s season was a flop, but that was mostly because of the cast. Also, I might be a little bit biased, because while I tried to watch the entire season, most of the time, I was sitting on my laptop getting homework done while the show was on in the background.

Nevertheless, I am so ready for this season of Survivor because I am hoping for more excitement and drama than ever! This season is titled Survivor: Game Changers because previous players were voted on by fans to join the cast once more and redeem themselves while battling for a prize of one million dollars.

Seasons like this on Survivor can really be a hit or miss. While it is fun to see Survivor alumni return to get a second chance at winning the game, especially if they were totally robbed of the prize the first go-around, it can sometimes be a little too much. That is because often times, the returning players are returning not for their second time, but for their third time (and this season, some have even been cast on the show for the fourth time. Ridiculous)! Also, some of the players have already won the one million dollars before. I believe that should mean that they are not on the show again! Take Boston Rob, for example, who won Survivor twice and was on the show a total of three seasons. His wife also won a season of Survivor, and together, they both took second place on The Amazing Race. Talk about a dream team!

So, redemption seasons can get a little repetitive. But I guess that is what the people like, since they voted the entire cast in this season!

I have to be honest: I do not remember all of these people from their previous seasons. Of course, nobody could forget Ozzy or Sandra, as both have proved themselves to be threats many times on the show, but there are some faces that I simply cannot place, and so I want to know if they can really be considered “game changers”.

Another difficult thing about these types of seasons is that the competition is fierce. This means that favorites are likely to go home from the very start, whether you want them to or not. The results are absolutely unpredictable! However, that does mean a lot of surprises, blindsides, and DRAMA, And that is why we watch shows like Survivor, right?

Well, I haven’t fully caught up with all of the episodes that have premiered in this season yet, but I plan to as soon as I get a chance (and can settle down with my family and watch them together). I can’t wait!

Do any of you watch Survivor? If so, who are you most excited to see play this season? I haven’t quite picked a favorite yet, but I know that no matter what, this spring season will be intense!

If you don’t watch Survivor, I encourage you to. I promise you that you will enjoy it! While you’re doing that, though…

Don’t Forget to Make It Meghan!
